Obituary for Beatrice Eastridge Whitt Beatrice Eastridge Whitt
North Tazewell Native Dies At Age 79

Beatrice Eastridge Whitt, 79, widow of Charles Blair Whitt, of Steeles Tavern, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2007, at her residence.

She was born February 23, 1927 in North Tazewell, a daughter of the late Charlie Franklin and Mary Ann (Bogle) Eastridge.

For most of her life, Mrs. Whitt was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vesuvius Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, who died July 28, 2005, she was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Emory Whitt; a brother; and five sisters.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Dana Whitt of Staunton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Callie and Clyde Reese of Greenville, and Polly and Ed Guffey of Staunton; a brother, Teddy Thomas Eastridge; a sister, Virginia Rose Keith, both of North Tazewell; five grandchildren, Gary Reese, Donald Reese, Stephen Guffey, Jeffrey Guffey, and Dawn Bishop; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Reese, Nikki Reese, and Jake Guffey; a step granddaughter, Barbara Smith; ten step-great grandchildren; and special caregivers, Melissa Tinsley, Myrtle Peters, Elizabeth Reese, and Brandi Radford.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Dan Stanley.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Reese, Donald Reese, Stephen Guffey, Jeffrey Guffey, Shane Tomlin, and Bill Hoernline.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. today, January 10, 2007, in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the homes of her children.
