Obituary for Mary Lois Potter Ayers Mary Lois Potter Ayers
County Native Dies At Age 69

Mary Lois Potter Ayers, 69, of Lexington, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007.

She was born June 20, 1937 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Montague Houston (Tag) Potter and Mary Letha Cummings Potter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Preston Ayers and a brother, Eugene Montague Potter.

Surviving are three daughters: Debbie Wallace and Becky Ayers, both of Lexington, and Teresa Ayres and husband, Daniel of Buena Vista; three brothers: Burton Potter and wife, Jan, of Sebring, FL, Jerry Potter and wife, Helen, of Fairfield, and her yungest sibling, Freddie Potter, who she thought of as her son; three sisters: Shirley Hostetter, Linda Hostetter, and husband Dorman, and Joyce Davis and husband, Eddie, all of Lexington; four grandchildren: Natasha Golden of Glasgow, Bryon Smith, Danielle Ayres, and Denise Ayres, all of Buena Vista and one great grandchildren, Alex Southers, of Buena Vista; five nephews and four nieces.

She was an adopted mother and friend to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Phillip Mace officiating. Burial will follow in the Collierstown Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 tp 7 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Harrisn Funeral Home and at other times at het residence, 501 McCorkle Drive, Lexington, VA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
