Obituary for Harold Alexander O'Connor Harold Alexander O'Connor
World War II Veteran Worked With VMI Police For 18 Years

Harold Alexander O'Connor, 85, of Lexington, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007.

He was born July 2, 1921 in Botetourt County, a son of the late Forest O'Connor and Ethel Reynolds O'Connor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June Carter O'Connor on January 4, 1999 and two brothers: James O'Connor and Glenn O'Connor.

Mr. O'Connor was retierd from VMI after 18 years with the special police.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie Jean and Edward Tyree and Barbara Jane and Lee Tyree, both of Buena Vista; three sisters: Iris O. McNeil, Hazel O. Mays and Judy O. Newell, all of Lexington; three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Moore officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice. The family will receive friends following the service at the resident of Mac and Judy Newell, 301 Summit St., Lexington, Va.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
