Alleghany County Native Worked As BV Police Dispatcher

Bernice Franklin Keller, age 94, of Buena Vista, died Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center.

She was born September 15, 1912 in Alleghany County, daughter of the late Eli F. and Nettie M. Parker Putnam.

She was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church.

She worked for many years with the Buena Vista Police Department where she was a dispatcher and also served as a Justice of Peace.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Orville C. Paynter, Sr. and Lloyd Keller.

She is survived by her children, Judith Ann Moschler of Midlothian, Orville C. Paynter, Jr. of Franklin, TN and Gregory P. Paynter of Fairfax; 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, 2007 at the Lomax Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Deborah Koontz officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lomax Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice.
