Obituary for Lucille Ayers Reynolds Lucille Ayers Reynolds
School Cafeteria Manager Loved Her Family, Church

Love is the very best gift. She gave it to all who knew her. We called her Mama, Grandma, Aunt Lou, sister, friend.

Her name was Lucille Ayers Reynolds, born April 8, 1928.

She died in Stonewall Jackson Hospital March 11, 2007.

Born in Rockbridge County to Minnie and James Ayers, she grew up in Kerrs Creek and married the "young man on the bicycle from Collierstown," Clefard D. Reynolds on September 28, 1946.

While raising two children, Lucille worked as the cafeteria manager at Central Elementary School and later, Highland Belle School for a total of 36 years. In 1957, she was a charter member of the Lexington Baptist Church and supported it passionately.

She was known for her homemade rolls, cakes and pies and other good food, which with a straight face she would tell you contained "just a pinch of sugar." But, Lou was better known for being just the sweetest person most people had ever met.

Surviving in addition to her husband are children: Alvis and his wife, Sue; daughter Joyce and her husband, Ron Kessinger; and granddaughters (the absolute joy of her life) Elizabeth Reynolds and Katherine (Katen) Reynolds; sister, Juanita Bartley; three brothers: Hunter, James and B. B. Ayers.

One sister, Carol and a brother, Charles, predeceased her.

Family visitation will be Wednesday, March 14 from 5-7 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home. The service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lexington Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
