Joseph Benjamin Lineberry, 81, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in thte Salem VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia.

He was born April 6, 1925 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late William Eli Lineberry and Mary Smith Lineberry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers: Franklin Lineberry, Clarence Slagle, Clyde Lineberry, Odell Lineberry, Lewis Lineberry and Roy Lineberry; one sister: Naomi Lineberry Davis.

He was retired from Modine Manufacturing, was a member of the McCutchen Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post 126, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a recipient of the Bronze Star for actions during combat.

Mr. Lineberry is survived by his wife, Virginia "Jean" Lineberry; a son, J. R. Lineberry and wife, Sheila of Buena Vista; a daughter, Pat Lineberry Humphreys and husband, Steve, of Harrisonburg; four grandchildren: Andrea L. Weeks, Fairfield; Margaret A. Lineberry and Neal Lineberry, Buena Vista; and Kristi H. Harold, Harrisonburg; six great grandchildren: Hannah C. Weeks and John L. Weeks, Fairfield; Abigail P. Lineberry of Madelyn S. Lineberry of Buena Vista; and Connor W. Harold and Lauren E. Harold, of Harrisonburg.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
