Obituary for Joan Teague Kerr Joan Teague Kerr
Long Time First Church Of The Brethren Member Dies At Age 70

Joan Teague Kerr, 70, of Buena Vista, wife of the late John E. Kerr, passed away peacefully at her home Friday morning, March 23, 2007.

Mrs. Kerr was born January 8, 1937 to the late Ernest Anderson and Gertrude Fox Teague in Lancaster, PA.

She also was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Edward Teague.

Mrs. Kerr was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She has been a long time member of the First Brethren Church in Buena Vista.

She was a faithful servant of God, serving as a Sunday school teacher, assistant financial secretary of the church, official board member, choir member, hospitality committee, Christmas activities committee, WMC officer and much more.

She lived by the Golden Rule.

She was the owner of Lomax Florist in past years and was presently owner of the Carpet Outlet in Buena Vista.

She was well-known as a good neighbor, was kind and generous.

She loved the outdoors, the birds, the flowers and her little Pomeranian, "Precious."

Mrs. Kerr is survived by two loving sons and their wives: William and Lisa Kerr and Jeff and Debbie Kerr, all of Buena Vista; four grandchildren: Britany and Tyler Kerr and Hillary and John-David Kerr, all of Buena Vista; two sisters: Mary Jascenia and husband, Jay of Ocala, FL; Doan Asburry and husband, Donald of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Richard Teague and wife, Dorothy of Rocky Mount, VA; a very loving sister-in-law, dear friend, and caregiver, Betty Teague of Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the First Brethren Church with Pastor Chris Becker with the assistance of Trooper Mike Hamilton, officiating, along with special music by Donna Cole, Chuck Rice and Sammy Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, Va. 24450 or the First Brethren Church, 100 E. 29th St., Buena Vista, VA 24416. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
