Obituary for Gene Warren Mayo Gene Warren Mayo
World War II Veteran Was Alleghany County Native

Gene Warren Mayo, 80, of Buena Vista, died Monday, March 26, 2007.

He was born February 5, 1927 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Gene Warren Mayo, Sr. and Garnette Long Mayo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles "Tuna" Lewis Mayo and a brother, Bernard "Bud" Mayo.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Mayo is survived by his wife, Alice Moore Mayo; three sons: David Warren Mayo and wife, Pamela of Lexington; George Jackson Mayo and Carl Edwin Mayo and wife, Helen, all of Natural Bridge; two daugthers: Connie Lee Beverly and husband, Calvin of Newport News; and Angela Jeanette Hamilton of Buena Vista; four brothers: Clarence Mayo of Florida; Wayne Mayo of Natural Bridge; Clarence Mayo and James Mayo, both of Glasgow; four sisters: Teresa Webb of New Mexico; Frances France of Alabama; Wanda Reid of Natural Bridge; and Margaret Ann Moore of Maryland; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Intermnet will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
