Jesse James Humphreys, 69, of Vesuvius, died Friday, May 18, 2007.

He was born May 6, 1938 in Montebello, son of the late Frank Swanson and Deanie Maddox Humphreys.

Mr. Humphreys retired from Georgia Bonded Fibers with 51 years of service and was a farmer.

He was a member of the Mt. Paran Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Coffey Humphreys; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Lee and Kimberly Humphreys and granddaughter, Katie Humphreys, all of Vesuvius; sisters, Shirley Kunick of Ashtabula, OH, Shirlyn Satterwhite of Arrington, and Georgia Byers of Montebello; brothers, Lowell Humphreys of Montebello and Robert Humphreys of Buena Vista.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Humphreys, Marion Humphreys, Norman Humphreys and a sister, Elizabeth Humphreys.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 from the graveside in Green Hill Cemetery with David Coffey and Rev. Larry Wingfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Lomax Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
