Obituary for Archie Lyle Tyree Archie Lyle Tyree
Retired From Burlington Industries After 48 Years

Archie Lyle Tyree, 86, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007.

He was born December 23, 1920 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Philander P. Tyree and Julia Sorrells Tyree.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Tyree and two sisters: Mary T. Slagle and Rose Tyree.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was retired from Burlington Industries after 48 years of service.

Mr. Tyree is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia (Sis) Claytor Tyree; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Palmer S. Hartless, Fairfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony Ray and Betty F. Tyree, Rockbridge County; three sisters: Polly T. Matteson and Jean T. Lineberry, Buena Vista, and Cookie T. Carawan, Lexington; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step grandsons, and four step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Bain and Rev. Malcolm Brownlee officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
