Obituary for Angela Lee "Angie" Higgins Angela Lee "Angie" Higgins
Worked With Alleghany TAP Office For 15 Years

Mrs. Angela Lee "Angie" Higgins, age 46, of 215 Higgins Hollow Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia passed away Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.

Born at the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital in Clifton Forge, Virginia on February 22, 1961, Mrs. Higgins was a daughter of Francis Ann Humphries of Ronceverte, West Virginia and the late Donald "Toby" Humphries.

She attended Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Virginia Western Community College, and Mary Baldwin College, where she earned several degrees in early childhood education.

She was an avid NASCAR fan who closely followed the careers of drivers Ward Burton and Jeff Gordon. She was employed by the Alleghany County TAP Office for fifteen years as a Head Start teacher and attended the Central Advent Christian Church.

She was well loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of eighteen years, Kenneth "Jack" Higgins of the residence; a son, Shannon Jason Phillips and his fiancee Rachael Waldon of Florida; a daughter, Adron Nikki Phillips of Florida; a sister, Reba Kay Wheeler of Covington; five grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart: Zoe and Spencer Phillips of Florida, Sterling "Elmo" Coles, III of Higgins Hollow Road, Clifton Forge, Audrey Holestin of Covington, and Canyia Burks of Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and special friend and co-worker, Kay McGrady of Covington.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Louis Dodd officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany County TAP Head Start Program, P.O. Box 2868, Roanoke, Virginia 24401.
