Obituary for Helen Rose Krug Trandel Helen Rose Krug Trandel
Worked With Central Steel & Wire Company In Chicago; Traveled Extensively

Helen Rose Krug Trandel, of Lexington, died June 4, 2007 at the Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

She was born September 30, 1912, one of six children born of German immigrant parents.

She was educated in the Chicago public schools and spent the major years of her professional career working as a bookkeeper for Central Steel and Wire company in Chicago.

Helen and her husband retired to the Lexington area in 1975.

She traveled extensively both in the U.S. and abroad with memorable trips to the pyramids of Egypt, the World War II battlefields in Europe, and a final nostalgic journey to her mother's ancestral home in Bernstein, Austria.

She was a member of the Stonewall Jackson Auxiliary and was a devoted volunteer at the Auxiliary's Thrift Shop.

She was a life-long Lutheran and was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lexington.

She was predeceased by her husband, August Trandel; a brother, William Krug; and a sister, Erma Sladek.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Richard Trandel and his wife, Barbara of Lexington; a daughter, Dr. Darlene Tradel-Korenchuk and her husband, Keith of Charlotte, NC: three grandsons, three granddaughters and one great granddaughter. Additionally, she is survived by two brothers: Samuel Krug of Naperville, IL and Albert Krug of Lancaster, CA; one sister, Mary Polivka of Buffalo Grove, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lexington, conducted by the Rev. Mark Schroeder. A private burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
