Violet Brooks Firebaugh, 97, of Lexington, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at home.

Mrs. Firebaugh was born September 21, 1909 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Charles Winston Brooks and Mary Sue Lotts Brooks.

She was a member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Violet liked to sew, play cards and dance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Penick Ruley and W. R. Firebaugh, Sr.

Surviving his her son, David Ruley and wife, Frances; a sister, Sadie Fitzgerald; a niece and two nephews; a stepdaughter, Doris Wartman; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church.
