Ruth Layne Thompson, 79, of Natural Bridge, died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at home.

She was born December 13, 1927 in Rockbridge County, daughter of the late J. G. Layne and Rachel McDaniel layne.

She was a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church.

She was retired from Burlington Industries after over 35 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil M. Thompson; a daughter, Barbara Dameron and a grandson, Steven Chapman; a granddaughter, Penny Cockram.

She is survived by two daughters: Jeanne and husband, Gerald Chapman of Roanoke and Sharon and Freddie Plogger of Natural Bridge; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Glasgow Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
