Obituary for Sara Lotts Fitzwater Sara Lotts Fitzwater
Cross Stitching Expert Was Active With Home Extension

Sara Lotts Fitzwater, 77, of Raphine, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at home.

She was born July 29, 1929 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late S. Mac Lotts Sr. and Sally Craig Lotts.

Also preceding her in death was a brother, S. Mack Lotts Jr., who died in August, 2002.

She was a member of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church as well as a quiet supporter of local events that benefitted the greater good of her community.

Until recent years she had been active with the Home Extension Organization area wide, serving as secretary, then later as Scholarship chairman.

She was known for her skill in cross stitching and had won several prizes and recognition for handiwork throughout the state.

Mrs. Fitzwater attended Madison College, but returned home to care for an invalid mother with her brother helping and later her father.

Prior to her marriage, she was the medical secretary to Dr. Glenn C. Campbell of Staunton.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Clarence T. (Fitz) Fitzwater; sister-in-law, Ora T. Lotts; one niece and her husband, Linda and Gene Lunsford; one great niece, Suzanna and husband, Tony Morgan; and several close friends: J. B. and Jeanie Cash, Mary Beth and Ray Wimer Jr., Carl and Ruth Cox, and Katie Ashby.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Carl Moore officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. There will be no formal visitation night. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fairfield Presbyterian Church, the Raphine Fire Department and Fairfield Rescue Squad or to a church of one's choice.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
