Obituary for Mathilde Elisabeth Martin Mathilde Elisabeth Martin
Native Of Germany Was Active In Her Community

Mathilde Elisabeth Martin,of Lexington, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at her residence.

Mrs. Martin was born in Germany, a daughter of the late Josef Brummer and Mathilde (Klarmann) Brummer.

She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the St. Patrick's Triad Women's Club, a member of the Lexington Women's Club, Treasurer of the Shenandoah Deutschverein, and was a member of the Lexington Country Club.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Arthur F. Martin, to whom she was married for 53 years; five children: Dr. Electra C. Martin of Midlothian; Dr. Pierre T. Martin of Newport News; Gregory A. Martin of Roanoke; Dr. Raquel Martin Grippi of Williamsville, New York; and Dr. Rebecca Martin Clark of Fort Wayne, Indiana; twelve grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Black of Roanoke; two brothers: Nicklaus Brummer of Christiansburg and Dr. Bernward Brummer of Germany.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening with a Christian Wake Service with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the Harrison Funeral Home.

A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church by Father Joseph D'Aurora. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemeter in Lexington.

The Harrison Funeral Home and Crematory in Lexington is in charge of the arrangements.
