She Was An Athens Tech Instructor From 1971-2000

Phyllis Byrd Boynton, 68, of Athens, GA, died Monday, July 9, 2007.

Born July 1, 1939 in Fort Mill, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Lamar and Violet Nash Byrd and was raised in Buena Vista.

She had lived in Athens since 1969 and was an instructor at Athens Tech from 1971 until 2000. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Boynton Baddeley and Thomas Baddeley of Winterville, GA, Colleen Colegrove and Dr. Eric Colegrove of Demorest, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Charlene Baddeley and Thomas Jared Baddeley of Winterville, GA, Evan Colegrove and Brianna Colegrove of Demorest; brothers, Gorden Byrd and wife Barbara Byrd of Stevensville, MI, Richard Byrd of New Castle, IN, and Bruce Byrd of Natural Bridge. Other family members surviving include nieces and newphew, Sue Brown, Stephanie Register, and Ivan Byrd; cousins, Julianna Hinson, Anita Thrasher, and Lorel McCormick; stepgrandchildren, Amy Haley, Heather Padgett, Kelly Baddeley, Holly Baddeley; and longtime friends, Suzanne Medlin and Carol Reese.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2007 in Athens, GA. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 16, 2007, 11:30 a.m. in the Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. The family will receive friends Monday, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Lomax Funeral Home.
