Melody Jewel Berry, 51, of 5464 Cold Springs Road, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 24, 2007 at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville.

Born October 14, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late James Sr. and Bessie Conner Hays.

She was employed as a pharmaceutical tech with Augusta Medical Center. She enjoyed vacationing at Daytona Beach Florida.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert "Mickey" Berry; two daughters: Samantha Berry of Raphine, Amy Berry and her husband Jed Sundstrom of Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren: Taylor Mason and Kaleb Sundstrom; a brother, James W. Hays, Jr. of Culpepper; six sisters: Donna Cochran and her husband Henry of Buena Vista; Elaine Tomlin and her husband Larry of Buena Vista; Marsha Humphrey and her husband Ray of Staunton; Crystal Davis of Stuarts Draft; Glenna Morris and her husband Steve of Jacksonville, FL.; Alesia Bryant of Stuarts Draft; special sisters-in-law: Karen Hays of Middlebrook; Barbara Fitzgerald and her husband, Stacy, of Staunton; Sandra Martin of Richmond; Sherry Keating and her husband, Ed, of Richmond; special friends: Dianne Davenport of Middlebrook, Lanny Price of Staunton, Loraine Baldwin of Greenville, Judy Norris of McKinley, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Following cremation a memorial service will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Stuarts Draft by Pastor Don Cash. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family service will be conducted at the residence at 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, 2007 after which the family will receive friends at 4:00 P.M.
