Obituary for Margaret Spangler Mays Margaret Spangler Mays
Owned, Operated Mays Grocery With Her Husband For Over 50 Years

Margaret Spangler Mays, 85, of Buena Vista, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at her residence.

She was born November 6, 1921 in Lewistown, PA, daughter of the late Byron Spangler and Fannie Wills Spangler Rothrock.

Margaret owned and operated MaysŐ Grocery with her husband Sam for over 50 years and was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel R. Mays; a daughter, Sandra Lane; brothers: Byron Spangler and William Spangler and a half sister, Shirley Ann Rothrock.

She is survived by her son, Samuel L. Mays and daughter-in-law, Diane, of Buena Vista, her daughter, Susan Mays Moore and son-in-law, Gus, of Buena Vista; four grandchildren: Stacey Mays and wife Jodi, Allan Mays and wife Sheena, Scott Moore and wife Robin and Jordan Moore; six great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild and half brother, Lee Rothrock of Florida; and special caregivers, Missy Potter, Amy Hostetter, Susan Wilhelm and Brenda Barlow.

The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2007 from the graveside in Green Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Bain officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valley Program for Aging Services, P. O. Box 817, Waynesboro, VA 22980-9908 or Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 946, Lexington, VA 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by the Lomax Funeral Home.
