Osby Ellis "Dukey" Flippens, 66, of Lexington, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 31, 1940 in Montgomery County, a son of the late Thomas and Mary Alexander Flippens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl Walker and a brother, Robert Lee Flippens.
He is survived by a daughter, Larothea "Tiny" Diamond, Buena Vista; a son, William Elliott, Natural Bridge; nine brothers and sisters, Thomas L. Flippens, Duvall P. Flippens, Wilford R. Flippens, Delma Flippens, Joyce A. Holmes, all of Akron, OH, Doris Price, Columbus, OH, Brenda Powell, Orville, OH, Andrew A. Flippens, Natural Bridge and Spencer G. Flippens, Japan; seven grandchildren; and a special friend, Sherida L. Cooper, Lexington.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Harrison Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Franklin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
