Obituary for Robert L. Hayslett Robert L. Hayslett
Was Head Maintenance Electrician At VMI

Robert L. Hayslett, Sr., 82, of Lexington, departed this world on August 15, 2007.

He was born January 26, 1925 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Emma Cleo Kirby and William McDonald Hayslett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sandra Hayslett.

After a long and tiring journey here on Earth, he has gone home to be with the Lord in Heaven. Our loss here on earth is Heaven's gain.

He Hayslett was retired from VMI as head maintenance electrician, where he worked for 31 years.

He leaves behind his loving, dedicated wife of 57 years, Sadie V. Hayslett; a daughter, Patsy H. Smith and husband, Punk; a son, Bob Hayslett, Jr.; a brother, John Edgar Hayslett; three granddaughters: Sherry Entsminger and husband, Patrick; Shelley Hall and husband, Jamie; and Amy Hayslett; one grandson, Robbie Hayslett; one step grandson, P. J. Smith; and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Dr. James D. Graves officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.

A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, we lay your shell of a body to rest in the ground this day because we know that you now are walking among the angels in Heaven with our Lord. True, you are gone, but you will never be forgotten. Your strong will and love for this family will see us through this heartbeaking time. You will be greatly missed because you were greatly loved by us all, your loving family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Rescue Squad and Life Saving Crew or the Rockbridge Area Hospce. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
