Annie Layton Ramsey, 91, of Buena Vista, died Friday, August 24, 2007 in the Shenandoah Valley nursing home.

Mrs. Ramsey was born on September 5, 1915 in Nelson County, a daughter of the late Alexander D. Layton and Rosa Cash Layton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd S. Ramsey; one daughter, Annie Higgins; one grandson, Michael Hostetter; and six sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Ramsey was a member of the Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Church.

Surviving are seven children and spouses: Jewett and Dovie Ramsey, Florence and Elwood Reynolds, all of Natural Bridge Station; Thomas L. and Gloria Ramsey of Crozet; Phyllis and Sam Hostetter of Pittsfield, MA; Roger and Lanell Ramsey of Rutherfordton, NC; Pat and Steven West of Hope Mills, NC; and Sammy and Kaye Ramsey of Buena vista; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; two special nephews and spouses: Robert and Ruth Fitzgerald and Willie H. and Estelle Fitzgerald, all of Buena Vista.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 in the Natural Bridge Christian Fellowship Church with the Rev. Nathan Phillips and the Rev. Conald Fogus officiating. Burial will follow in the Glasgow Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Natural Bridge Christian Church. The family received friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista, Virginia.
