Obituary for James Richard Yeager, Jr. James Richard Yeager, Jr.
Former VDOT Employee Was Surveyor, World War II Veteran

James Richard Yeager, Jr., 90, of Lexington, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born November 24, 1916 in Orange County, a son of the late James Richard Yeager, Sr. and Florence Leigh Yeager.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Yeager, III.

Mr. Yeager was a member and Elder Emeritus of the Grace Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of World War II.

He was employed by VDOT for 45 years and surveyed privately for many years after his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth C. Yeager; a daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Ramsey and husband, Rodney, Marietta, GA; a granddaughter: Patricia Leigh Yeager, Staunton; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Yeager, Fishersville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Grace Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial will follow with military rites in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gideons International or the Grace Presbyterian Funding Fund. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
