Obituary for John L. Hancock John L. Hancock
He Served With The 43rd U. S. Naval Seabees Contruction Battalion In WWII

John L. Hancock, formerly of Williamsburg, VA, passed away Sunday at the home of his son in Natural Bridge, VA.

He was born June 1, 1919 in Henderson, KY, a son of the late Martin and Susan Hancock.

He served with the 43rd U. S. Naval Seabees Construction Battalion in WWII. Mr. Hancock worked for Basic Construction Company, Newport News, VA for 40 years where he was a former vice president of building construction. He worked 10 years as construction administrator for the expansion project at the Richmond International Airport. He was a member of the Shriners Khedive Temple of Norfolk, VA for over 50 years and a member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No. 6.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Newton Hancock; one son, John Martin Hancock; daughter-in-law, Rowene Hancock; one granddaughter, Melissa Hancock, all of Natural Bridge, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 1751, Williamsburg, VA 23187. There will be private family burial in Williamsburg.
