Elizabeth W. Calhoun, age 82, of Charlotte, died September 19, 2007 at Charlotte Health Care.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Forest Lawn West Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Calhoun was born in Lexington, Virginia, December 23, 1924, daughter of the late Harry M. and Virginia Carter Smith.

She was a graduate of Lexington High School. She was employed for many years by Lee's Carpets in Glasgow, Virginia and Burlington Industries at Cramerton, NC.

She carried the Charlotte Observer in the Westcheser area for approximately 33 years and also did carpentry and painting on her rental property.

She is survived by her husband, John H. Calhoun; a daughter, Phyllis Smedley; a son, Jerry W. Withrow (Doris), John H. Calhoun, Jr. (Kathy), David Calhoun (Lisa), Gary D. Calhoun (Velvet), Edward C. Calhoun (Kim) and ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
