Obituary for Gwendolyn Bare Stuart Gwendolyn Bare Stuart
Worked With the Lexington Telephone Company For 45 Years

Gwendolyn Bare Stuart, 72 of Buena Vista, Virginia, died on Monday, October 22, 2007 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Born December 16, 1934 in Buena Vista, she was the daughter of the late Mary McCormick Bare and O. T. "Tank" Bare. In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, R. W. "Doug" Stuart.

Gwen is survived by two brothers: Robert "Bob" Bare of Lexington, VA; and Francis "Pete" Bare and his wife, Helen, of Buena Vista; a sister-in-law, Lou Stuart of Lexington, VA; two special nieces: Terri Bare Lowder of Buena Vista and Patty Stuart Knick and her husband, Gerald of Woodbridge, VA; three special nephews: Randy Bare and his wife, Kathie, of Buena Vista, VA; Mike Bare and his wife, Phyllis of Natural Bridge station, Va; and James Wilson Stuart and his wife, Nancy, of Buckingham, VA; several great nieces and nephews.

Gwen was a graduate of Natural Bridge High School and attended Radford University.

She was employed for 45 years with the Lexington Telephone Company. She was a very active workers and member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church and was very acive in the Maury River Senior Center, a member of the Rockbridge Senior Citizen Center, Buena Vista Women's Club, and the Red Hat Society.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert McMullen officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church and the Maury River Senior Center in Buena Vista.
