Obituary for Erskin Kennon Campbell" Erskin Kennon Campbell
Retired In 1990 As Buena Vista Chief Of Police

Erskin Kennon Campbell, 72, of Buena Vista, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2007.

He was born February 12, 1935, the son of John and Nellie Campbell.

He was a graduate of Fleetwood High School, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, and the FBI Academy. He served in the U. S. Army as a military police officer in Frankfurt, Germany, and retired in 1990 as Chief of Police from the City of Buena Vista police force after 34 years of service. He was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church where he served as deacon.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Fitzgerald Campbell; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Campbell Amato and Henry Amato, Fishersville; granddaughters, Lauren and Victoria (Tori) Amato; two brothers, Bill (Buddy) Campbell, King, NC, and Tex Campbell, Roanoke.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Buena Vista Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Thomas, Rev. David Bain and Rev. David Washburn officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Buena Vista Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2007 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
