He Was A Member Of Manly Memorial Baptist Church

Bernard Lewis Harris, 85, of Lexington, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Kendal Nursing Home.

He was born May 12, 1922 in Lexington, a son of the late Samuel Eldridge Harris and Grace Rapp Harris.

He was a member of Manly Memorial Baptist Church; Heights Lion Heart the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio #633, Lyndhurst, OH; Kazim Temple Shrine AAONMS of Roanoke, VA; Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Virginia Royal Arch Chapter #44, Lexington; Moomaw Commandery No. 027 Knights Templar, Lexington; and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S. J. USA, Valley of Roanoke Orient of VA, Roanoke, VA.

He is survived by his loving ad caring wife of 62 years, Frances Inez Beard Harris; two nephews, Rhea E. Harris and Larry G. Harris.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, with Dr. J. Michael Wilkins officiating. There will no visitation at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank all the staff and caregivers at UVA Hospital, Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke Community Hospital, Stonewall Jackson Hospital, and Augusta Medical Center for their compassionate care during Mr. Harris' illness. May God bless each of you.
