Obituary for Charles Alfred "Fred" Berry, Jr. Charles Alfred "Fred" Berry, Jr.
LHS Graduate Was School Bus Driver, Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club Charter Member

Charles Alfred "Fred" Berry, Jr., 90, of Lexington, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007.

He was born October 10, 1917 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Charles Alfred Berry, Sr. and Agnes McCown Berry.

Fred graduated from Lexington High School.

He was a school bus driver.

He was a charter member for 63 years of the Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club; he served as its president and was active in its activities.

He was a member for 56 years of the Mountain City Masonic Lodge #67.

He was a member of the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church where he served an an elder, cemetery administrator, and church treasurer for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel Tolley Berry; two daughters: Susan Rutkoski, Chester; and Connie Saulnier, Leesburg, Va; three grandchildren: Virginia Saulnier, Samuel Saulnier, and William Saulnier; a sister, Anne Berry Sterrett, Hampton.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Martin Stokes officiating. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church, 2348 West Midland Trail, Lexington, Va. 24450.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
