Avid Softball Player, Coach Was Army Veteran

Donald Wayne "Pogo" Humphries, 59, of Vinton, Virginia, formerly of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Durham VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.

He was born June 1, 1948 in Lexington, a son of the late Randolph L. Humphries and Ruby Coleman Humphries.

Mr. Humphries was an avid software player and coach and served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He is survived by a son, Mickey Humphries and girlfriend, Felecia Mullins, Salem; a brother, Robert Humphries and wife, Cathy, Buena Vista; three nieces; and a very special friend, Faye Davis, Buena Vista.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. W. A. Mills and Rev. Butch Grow officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
