Obituary for Mary S. "Janie" Moore Mary S. "Janie" Moore
Was A Former Cafeteria Manager For Rockbridge County Schools

Mary S. "Janie" (Sorrells) Moore, 81, beloved wife of Delbert William Moore of 1055 Dutch Hollow Road, Raphine, went home to be with the Lord at 9:50 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington.

She was born January 15, 1926 in Fairfield, daughter of the late Clarence James and Minnie Ethel (Balser) Sorrells.

Before retiring, she was a cafeteria manager for the Rockbridge County Public Schools for 26 years.

Mrs. Moore had a great faith and love for the Lord and was a faithful member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She served as a volunteer for King's Way. She had a kind word for everyone she met and was a loving wife and mother who dedicated herself to her family.

In addition to her husband of 49 years, survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: William and Kathy Moore, Eric and Angie Moore, and Harry and Kim Moore, all of Raphine; her adopted son, Alvin Black of Nevada; two sisters: Blanche Pratt of Chesapeake and Vickie Ricks of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren: Heather Ingram, Hollie, Kevin, Jameson, Josh, Jacob, and Kody Moore; and two great grandchildren: Nevaeh Moore and Jamie Ingram.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Sorells; and two sisters, Gertrude Lunsford and Edna Severson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2008 at the Green Hill Cemetery in buena Vista by Mr. Ray Fitzgerald.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Friends may call anytime at the home of Harry Moore, 1052 Dutch Hollow Road, Raphine.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Staunton/Waynesboro/Augusta Unit, 1920-H Medical Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 or to the Fairfield Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc., P. O. Box 136, Fairfield, VA. 24435.

The Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
