Accomplished Weaver Was Avid Bridge Player

Marion Beatrice Katcher Brown, 94, of Lexington, died Friday, January 11, 2008 at Kendal in Lexington.

She was born in Charles City, Iowa on May 18, 1913, a daughter of the late Charles and Louise Heyer Katcher.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Elwyn Katcher and husband, William Howard Brown, county agricultural agent in Floyd and Carroll counties, Iowa.

She lived in Iowa until 1974 when they moved to Sun City, Arizona.

She moved to Lexington in 2006 to be near her daughter, Barbara Jeanne Brown, who survives. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Demeric Katcher of Charles City, Iowa and Lillian Brown of Rose Hill, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She attended Iowa State College.

She was a Girl Scout and 4-H Club leader and was an accomplished weaver.

The Browns were avid bridge players.

A memorial service will be held at the Lexington Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fellowship Fund at Kendal of Lexington, 160 Kendal Drive, Lexington, VA 24450 or to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers St., Lexington, VA 24450.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
