John Maurice Shirey, 86, of Lexington, died Friday, January 11, 2008 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

He was born December 27, 1921 in Foxburg, PA, a son of the late Ira Shirey and Beatrice Shaw Shirey.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Eckard Shirey; three daughters: Pam Duff, Fairfax Station; Eileen Stuber, Santa Anna, CA; and Nancy Decker, Lexington; seven grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Kendal. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
