Obituary for Richard Phillip (Dick) Rogers, Sr. Richard Phillip (Dick) Rogers, Sr.
He Was A Rockbridge Auto Parts Retiree

Richard Phillip (Dick) Rogers, Sr., 98, of Buena Vista, died at his home Thursday, February 7, 2008.

Born May 5, 1909, he lived his entire life at 821 Orchard St., Buena Vista. He was the son of the late Ada Stinnett Rogers and Luther Scott Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.

Dick was retired from Rockbridge Auto Parts. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church for 89 years and held many offices within the church. He was an avid sports fan and was awarded a lifetime membership to the Buena Vista Sportsman Club in 1972.

He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Edith Comer Rogers; three daughters, Sheila Undercoffer and husband, Tom, Hampton, VA, Carolyn Rogers, Roanoke, VA, and Charlotte Calfee and husband, William, Ruckersville, VA; a son, Richard P. (Rick) Rogers and wife, Kim, Radford, VA; a grandson, Scott Bryant, Hampton, VA; two granddaughters, JoBeth Rogers, Christiansburg, VA, and Emily Rogers, Radford, VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 at St. John's United Methodist Church, Buena Vista, with Rev. Deborah Koontz and Rev. Butch Grow officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in Dick's name to St. John's United Methodist Church, 351 E. 21st Street, Buena Vista, VA 24416. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
