Obituary for Beulah May Lotts-Reese Beulah May Lotts-Reese
Lifetime Rockbridge Resident Dies At Age 98

Beulah May Lotts-Reese, born August 30, 1909, went to be with her heavenly father on April 16, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee (Buck) Reese; mother Sarah Elizabeth Lotts-Sweet; stepfather, Henry Cylvester Sweet; four brothers and one grandson.

She is survived by a daughter, Nora Lee Reese-Wade and her husband of Virginia Beach; a foster daughter, Lorene S. Chittum and her husband of Buena Vista; 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, many extended family members and special friends.

She was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church for 86 years.

As a child, she worshiped at Pisgah Chapel as well.

Beulah attended a one room school house in the early 1900s called Pisgah School. She graduated from Pisgah School and proceeded to secondary school at Brownsburg Academy, where each day began with her Lord's prayer.

She was a lifetime resident of Rockbridge County and worked as a farm manager, a domestic laborer, a farmer, a homemaker, a devoted housewife, and a mother to many.

Buelah enjoyed playing gospel music on her accordion, church choir, Bible reading and her devotional time, cooking for friends and family and canning the fruits of her labors. She was an accomplished seamstress, an animal enthusiast, and had a special affection for flowers and plants. She had an affinity for going to auctions, visiting family, friends and neighbors. She had a profound reverence for life and all its glory.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Newman at Marlbrook Bapttist Church on April 20, 2008 at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions or donations are encouraged and may be made to the Gideon's International, P. O. Box 942, Lexington, VA. 24450.
