Obituary for Edith Comer Rogers Edith Comer Rogers
St. John's United Methodist Church Member Was Unselfish Caregiver

Edith Comer Rogers, 92, of Buena Vista, died Monday, April 28, 2008 after a long illness.

Mrs. Rogers was born August 18, 1915 in Honeyville, Virginia, and resided in Shenandoah, Virginia until 1931.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Emma Douglas Comer and her husband of 70 years, Richard P. (Dick) Rogers, Sr., who passed away in February of this year.

Also preceding her in death were a sister, Charlotte C. Owens and three brothers: Roy Comer, Jennings Comer and Kenneth Comer.

Edith was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, a graduate of Parry McCluer High School and was a resident of Buena Vista for 77 years.

She was a loving and warm mother, grandmother and sister, and a thoughtful and unselfish caregiver to many relatives and friends over the course of her long life.

She is survived by three daughters: Sheila Undercoffer and husband, Tom, Hampton, Va; Carolyn Rogers, Roanoke, VA; and Charlotte Calfee and husband, William, Ruckersville, VA; a son, Richard P. (Rick) Rogers, Jr. and wife, Kim, Radford, VA; a grandson, Scott Bryant, Hampton, Va; two granddaughters: JoBeth Rogers, Christiansburg, Va; and Emily Rogers, Radford, VA; a brother, Joseph L. Comer, Roanoke, VA, and a sister, Olivia Moore and husband, Robert, Lexington,VA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the St. John's United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Koontz officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
