Billy Joe Brunty, 49, of Raphine, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in University of Virginia Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1959 in West Virginia, a son of Lucille Billings Brunty and the late Gilbert Davis Brunty.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda L. Brunty; a daughter, Christy Lynn Brunty, Staunton; four stepchildren, Steven Forren, Brandon Clark, Raphine, Michael Forren, Cherrie Entsminger, Buena Vista; one sister, Dreama Shifflett, Monterey; two brothers, Jesse Brunty, Fairfield, and Frank Brunty, Buena Vista; two half brothers, Kenneth Brunty, Texas and Merrideth Brunty, West Virginia; two stepgrandchildren; six nieces; one nephew; and two great nieces.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Rockbridge Memorial Gradens with Rev. Roy Swisher officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
