Irene Knick Stanley, 80, of Buena Vista, died Friday, May 23, 2008 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

She was born August 8, 1927 in Lexington, a daughter of the late Condon Knick and Dorothy Bayne Knick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin Stanley and a brother, Ray B. Knick.

She is survived by three daughters: Connie B. Martin, Goshen; Elaine S. Carter, Buena Vista; and Darlene S. Austin, MD; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2008 at the New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery. There was no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements were handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Virginia.
