Obituary for James Thomas Henry James Thomas Henry
Avid Farmer Was County School Bus Driver For Over 35 Years

James Thomas Henry, 77, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born November 25, 1930, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Reid McGuffin Henry and Margaret Aileen Goodman Henry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Sue Henry, and a brother, W.M. (Bill) Henry.

J.T. was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters: Anne Henry and Beth Swink, of Rockbridge County; five grandchildren: Jean and Nick Ramsey, Shirley and Ben Switzer, and John B. Swink; a nephew, Michael Henry and wife, Sylvia; four nieces: Julie Lipscomb and her husband, Joe, Donna Berry, Linda Blaine and Shirley Matherly and husband, John; two sisters-in-law: Martha Henry and Anna Ruth Berry; and many close extended family members.

Mr. Henry was a school bus driver for the County of Rockbridge for over 35 years. He was an avid farmer and gardener and lived on the family farm his entire life. J.T. had a love for his antique tractors, the outdoors, his family and many friends.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Carl Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church, 75 Sam Houston Way, Lexington, Va. 24450.

The family will receive friends anytime at the residence, 16 Paradise Lane, Buena Vista. Arrangements were handled by the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, Va.
