William Henry Ivey, 74, of Buena Vista, died Thursday, June 12, 2008.

He was born March 24, 1934 in Chester, PA, a son of the late Fred and Sarah Ivey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers.

Mr. Ivey was a member of the American Legion Post 0141, Richmond.

He was retired from the Transit Authority for New York City.

Surviving his wife, Barbara A. Ivey; five stepchildren: Alatha Long, Richmond; Theresa Jones, Newport News; Wilhilmenia Jackson, Milwaukee, WI; Francine Alkinson, SC; and Ronald Ulmer, Lynchburg; two sisters: Sarah Foxworth, Chester, PA and Ruth Barrington, Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Thomas Ivey, LaMar, Texas; five stepgrandchildren and four great stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, VA.
