Obituary for Gladys Leech Grant Gladys Leech Grant
County Native Dies In Hampton

Gladys Leech Grant, 93, born in Rockbridge Co., VA and a resident of Hampton, VA since 1947 passed away July 4, 2008 at the Northampton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Grant was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband, Walter Schuyler Grant, Jr., a former director of the Newport News Waterworks. Colonel Grant served during World War II in England, France and Germany.

She is survived by her three daughters: Martha Rideout, Pat Gooding and Molly Neely; and their husbands, Thomas, Robert and Daniel; and five grandchildren: Schuyler and Catherine Rideout, and Paige, Carter and Grant Gooding.

Arrangements are under the care of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23669.

A private family burial is planned at Arlington National Cemetery at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2008 where she will be interred with Col. Grant.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Northampton Convalescent Center for their professional and kind care of Mrs. Grant over the last ten years.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Hampton History Museum Association, 120 Old Hampton Lane, Hampton, VA 23669 or a favorite charity.
