Dr. Gurney Pritchell (Geep) Whiteley, 85, of Rockbridge Baths, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 in the Augusta Medical Center.

Born January 16, 1923 in Whitset, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Gurney Leslie Whiteley and Lece Pritchett Whiteley.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Sowers Whiteley; two sons: David Whiteley, Easthampton, MA and Jonathan Whiteley, Linz, Austria; one daughter, Patricia Whiteley, Brownsburg, VA; a step-son, Todd Cook, Chesapeake, VA; a step daughter, Betsy Cook, Vergennes, VT; grandchildren: Jonathan and Stephanie Whiteley, Nicholas and Nolan Cook; great grandson, Tyler Whiteley.

A memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Rockbridge Baths, with Dr. William Klein officiating Interment will be in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union Theological Seminary Ministry Fund, Union Theological Seminary, 3401 Brooke Road, Richmond, VA 23227.

The family will receive friends at any time at the residence, 31 Hideaway lane, Rockbridge Baths, Va 24473.
