Charles Arthur "Ikey" Simmons, age 50, of 3264 Cowpasture River Highway, Millboro, Virginia died Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in Alleghany County.

He was born November 16, 1957 in Alleghany County, Virginia, a son of Charles L. "C.L." and Mary Miller Simmons of Clifton Forge.

He was a conductor for CSX Transportation for over twenty years and attended the First Assembly of God Church.

He had a great love of hunting, the outdoors, music, and the Cowpasture River.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kay Putnam Simmons of Millboro; a daughter, Rachel Marie Simmons of Clifton Forge; a son, Charles Aaron Simmons and friend, Amy Young of Millboro; a brother, Pat Simmons of Clifton Forge; two step daughters: Twila Boyd of Iron Gate and Kim Putnam of Iron Gate, as well as by many friends and family including cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday evening (November 17, 2008) at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Martin Garrett officiating. The family requrests casual attire be worn for the service. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the First Assembly of God Church, 1610 Oak Hill Avenue, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
