Obituary for Arthur Virgil Mines Arthur Virgil Mines
Worked With City Of Covington In Filter Plant

Arthur Virgil Mines, 81, 5519 Johnson Creek Road, Covington, died, Monday, December 8, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Mines was born December 29, 1926 in Alleghany County, the son of the late John W. and Vada Rogers Mines.

He served during the Korea War as a medic.

Mr. Mines retired in 1989 as a Filter Plant Operator for the City of Covington after 41 years of employment.

He was a member of the Moss Run Baptist Church and served as a deacon of the church. Mr. Mines was a member of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Lodge # 23 of Odd Fellows. He was an avid Gardner.

Surviving are is wife of 56 years, Audrey Harvey Mines of Covington; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Elizabeth Mines of Covington; two daughters and a son in law, Linda and Jim Parker and Kathy Bartley, all of Covington; four grandchildren: Amy and Anthony Hubbard; Richard Mines; Jeremy Thomas and Grace Parker, all of Covington and one great granddaughter, Courtney Hubbard of Covington.

In keeping with Mr. Mines Wishes, his body has been cremated.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel.

The interment will be in the Johnson Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time on Thursday.
