Obituary for James Calvin Carr James Calvin Carr
Military Retiree Was Longtime BV Barber

James Calvin Carr, 80, of Lexington, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

Born March 25, 1928 in Glasgow, Virginia, he wa the son of the late Richard Charles Carr, Sr. and Annabelle Camden Carr.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard Charles Carr, Jr.

Mr. Carr retired in October, 1968 after twenty years of service in the armed forces.

He was also a barber in Buena Vista for approximately forty years.

He was a member of Falling Spring Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife of forty-nine years, Shirley M. Carr; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly D. Carr and Patrick Leonard of Honolulu, Hawaii and Brenda A. Carr of Roanoke, VA; sister-in-law, Lucille W. Carr of Buena Vista; and nephew, Charles E. (Chuck) Carr of Natural Bridge Station.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church with Dr. Brian Weger officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Falling Spring Presbyterian Church, 410 Falling Spring Road, Glasgow, Va 24555 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
