Carl Houston Anderson, 87, of Buena Vista, departed this temporal life for an eternal life on Monday, December 22, 2008.

He was a faithful member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, a Godly husband, devoted father and grandfather.

He was born December 20, 1921 in Nelson County, a son of the late John Byron Anderson and Ollie Truslow Anderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a loving step mother, Marshella Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946.

He was a retired building inspector for the city of Buena Vista.

Surviving are his wife, Hilda Wise Anderson; a daughter, Angela A. Sievert and husband, Bob of Midlothian; four grandchildren: Kimberly A. Murphy, Shannon G. Williams, Matthew D. Sievert and Andrew C. Sievert; two great grandchildren: Jessica Colby and Jordan Murphy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Stone Church of the Brethren with Rev. Russ Barb and Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P. O. Box 948, Lexington, Va 24450 or the Buena Vista Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 668, Buena Vista, Va 24416.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the church.
