Obituary for James Homer McDaniel James Homer McDaniel
World War II Veteran Was Burlington Retiree

James Homer McDaniel, 87, of Buena Vista, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008.

Born March 31, 1921 in Rockbridge County, he was the son of the late James Lewis and Indiana Wheeler McDaniel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Shanks McDaniel; five sisters: Rinnie Ramsey, Beatrice Davis, Laura McDaniel, Dorothy Snow, and Betty McDaniel; three brothers: Glossie McDaniel, John McDaniel and Harry McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel was a veteran of World War II, where he served in Germany.

He retired from Burlington Industries after sixteen years of service.

Surviving are two sisters: Hattie Fitzgerald of Buena Vista and Kitty Young of Norco, CA; four children: Myrtle Sensabaugh and husband, Brown; James E. McDaniel, Geraldine Shafer and husband, Kenny; and Johnny McDaniel of Buena Vista; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Virginia.
