Henry David Clark, 78, of Vesuvius, Virginia, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2008.

Born July 23, 1930 in Staunton, he was a son of the late Donald Johnson Clark and Janie Rexrode and was raised by his grandparents, the late Houston and Rosa Clark.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Clark; a grandson, Henry Hartless; and a son-in-law, Douglas Hite.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mary Billiter Clark; half-brothers: Merilyn Hoover of Crimora; Carter Hoover of Staunton; Wayne Clark and wife, Betty of Arkansas; a half-sister, Maxine Kirkpatrick and husband, Sam of Lexington; daughters: Glenda Mays and husband, Dave; Henrietta Waymack and husband, Hall; Rebecca Hite and friend, Dennis Hays of Vesuvius; sons: Randall Clark and wife, Margaret; and David Clark of Harrisonburg; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters: Clelon Mason of Buena Vista and Irby Sorrells of Waynesboro; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much; one special nephew, Dustin Blake Clark of Roanoke, who knew and loved him as his "pa paw".

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Paige Barnes and Bob Hatcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Irish Creek Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service on Monday, December 29, 2008.
