Ruth Austin Walker, 82, of Natural Bridge Station, died Thursday, January 1, 2009 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 30, 1926 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Paul David Austin and Margaret Ann Wilcher Austin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd E. Walker.

Surviving are a son, Rev. Robert A. Walker and wife, Connie of Princeton, WV; a daughter, Edna W. Hazelwood and husband, Dick of Natural Bridge Station; brothers: Ben Austin and Lewis Austin of Natural Bridge Station; sisters: Minnie Cochran of Roanoke and Margaret Wilhelm of Lexington; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Glasgow Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Phillips officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Natural Bridge First Responders, 5705 N. Lee Highway, Natural Bridge, VA 24578 or Glasgow First Aid, P. O. Box 421, Glasgow, VA 24555. The family will receive friends from 5 Ð 7 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington, VA.
