Nancy Bruce Baber Baird, 82, of 124 Falcon Ridge Road, Clifton Forge, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Clifton Forge.

She was born in Albemarle County, Virginia on July 29, 1926, a daughter of the late James and Virginia Patterson Baber.

She was a homemaker, and a member of the Scottsville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dabney Allen Baird in 1997, a son Allen Bruce Baird, Sr. in 2008, brother, James Russell Baber in 1930, and sister, Virginia Adcock in 1973.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Harris of Clifton Forge; daughter-in-law, Susan Moore Baird of Clifton Forge; sister, Emma Pitcanon of Richmond; seven grandchildren: Allen Bruce Baird, Jr. and wife Crystal; Brian Lance Baird and wife Kim; Shannon Siers and husband Jimmy; David Allen Harris and wife Lynn; Wendy Sharie Stewart and husband Jamie; Michael Wayne Harris, and Jason Lee Harris and companion Tessia Caudill; seventeen great-grandchildren; five nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment of her cremains will be made in Scottsville Cemetery, Scottsville, at a later date by the family.
